Alpha Rhythm

Alpha rhythm/waves are electromagnetic oscillations in the frequency range of 8–12 Hz arising from synchronous and coherent (in phase / constructive) electrical activity of thalamic pacemaker cells in the human brain. They are also called Berger's wave in memory of the founder of EEG.(Brazier 1970)
Alpha waves are commonly detected by electroencephalography (EEG) or magnetoencephalography (MEG) and predominantly found to originate from the occipital lobe during periods of relaxation, with eyes closed but still awake. Conversely alpha waves are attenuated with open eyes as well as by drowsiness and sleep. They are thought to represent the activity of the visual cortex in an idle state.
An alpha-like normal variant called mu (µ) is sometimes seen over the motor cortex (central scalp) and attenuates with movement, or even with the intention to move.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are molecules that slow or prevent the oxidation of other chemicals. Oxidation is a redox chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions can involve the production of free radicals, which can start chain reactions that damage cells. Antioxidants can terminate these chain reactions by removing radical intermediates, and can inhibit other oxidation reactions by being oxidized themselves. As a result, antioxidants are often reducing agents such as thiols or polyphenols.
Although oxidation reactions are critical for life, they can also be damaging; hence, plants and animals maintain complex systems of multiple types of antioxidants, such as glutathione, vitamin C, and vitamin E as well as enzymes such as catalase, superoxide dismutase and various peroxidases. Too low levels of antioxidants or inhibition of the antioxidant enzymes causes oxidative stress and may damage or kill cells.
As oxidative stress has been implicated in the pathogenesis of many human diseases, the use of antioxidants in pharmacology is intensively studied, particularly as treatments for stroke and neurodegenerative diseases. However, it is unknown whether oxidative stress is the cause or the consequence of such diseases. Antioxidants are also widely used as ingredients in dietary supplements in the hope of maintaining health and preventing diseases such as cancer and coronary heart disease. Although some studies have suggested antioxidant supplements have health benefits, other large clinical trials did not detect any benefit for the formulations tested, and excess supplementation may occasionally be harmful. In addition to these uses in medicine, antioxidants have many industrial uses, such as preservatives in food and cosmetics and preventing the degradation of rubber and gasoline.

Its been a long and sleepless weekend...

Sushi rolls.... yum* its really addictive when u have enough of soy sauce and wasabi... wahahahha.....

On friday, brother Jun Hung graduated... for his double major in accounting/ commerce degree....it was a cold morning... very cold... shivering cold... super freezing sub-zero kinda cold... hahaha... after lunch we went to get stuff to prepare the food for... the Food fair...duh..
tried to make satay sauce... we sort of did it... with the help of... the paste we bought.. hahaha... oily and somkey night it was.....

Saturday... Food fair.... invited a friend to come... haha... its really embarasing to not hv enuf time to like kept her entertained...... XD was too busy serving and taking photos... erm... the pics are not with me somehow... after the foodfair was the International Idol thing... hmm.. was really good...actually... then we went out for a DragQueen show... hmm... they are juz so funny... cant stop laughing thru out the show.. went off half way...coz we got bored...

Sunday.... woke up late, had lunch... watched anime.... and i think that's about it... and... i kinda reinstall diablo 2... i duno y... juz feel like playing it... but i dun hv enuf time..... so... sigh.... it will be a busy week... Week 11 !!!!!

Due to the illegal racings that blooms in recent months....Mr. Chan from AMX studio invited me to take part of a small project... I alwaiz wanted to do something like that... the progress wasnt that fast coz all of us are juz 'part time'...i mean the whole crew... At that time, i was busy with all kinds of stuff.... it was around jan 2007... Although we'rent using cutting edge computer graphics, but what i heard its sufficient to make ppl laugh and enjoy...
Haha... there will be a short clip gonna release soon.. in youtube...
its been postponed 2 months because of some technical problems...
Im not the director... but somehow im involved....>.<
I had alot of fun during the making... Hope it will come out nice !!!
i think its in cantonese.... with english subtitles i supposed....

It's been 50 years... Many revolutions made, but still... lacking of something important... Cant imagine what will happen next year or 2009... but still looking forward to it... ^^

Finally... jiahaur has moved his blog out of xanga and about to abandon friendster's... xanga is too dangerous for others to view ur page... i got complaints where ppl 'kena' virus and claimed that its from xanga... so... without any delay... i 'cabut'... hahaha
its been a while since i use so-home-like terms... thanx to a special friend's recommendation... here i am... continue crapping in Blogspot!! wahaha wahaha-haha....

Another side of the story... for some reasons, my blog is dead since i came sydney... not much interest in writing... coz not many ppl interested in reading it... so... i guess i write posts that KISS....(keep it simple and 'stupid')... maybe not the stupid part... coz the source from 'Un-----pedia' may reduce readers' IQ... and i shall alwaiz keep my post neutral...
